Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.

These three athletes have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the last year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the very first time, and Perrin rose to fame with a historic innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The shortlisted athletes were revealed during a live broadcast on a widely-listened-to radio show.

This year's winner will be unveiled on the Sports Personality of the Year show on December 18th.

The ceremony will be televised from 7 PM GMT.

Agyemang's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Football

A mere three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"Being nominated for this award is incredible," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

The year started for Littler in sensational style as - aged 17 - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

And he wasn't finished there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a special memory for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it motivates more young women to get into cricket."
