The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”
Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, his comments indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.
During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
