British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
βThe boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,β the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.β
His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community shared condolences for the star in the following the heartbreaking incident.
