Barcelona Ready for First Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend

Barcelona have announced they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in La Liga two and a half years following their departure so building work could begin.

“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Not all seats will be available though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside under the licence granted. After final construction, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.

Stadium Testing

Barça organized a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou earlier this month. The club said they are seeking authorization by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt next month at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
